How to change nappy?
Changing diaper gives you and your child a chance to bond. You can talk or sing to him while you are changing his diaper. You can even start teaching him by pointing his body parts and telling him what it is. Below are some basic steps you need to know.
- You need to wash and dry your hands so that the bacteria you have won't be passed on your baby.
- Set up your changing area.
- Grab your supplies such as clean diaper, wipes, diaper rash cream, etc.
- Unfold your clean diaper so it's ready to put on your baby
- Unfasten the dirty diaper, but don't remove it yet.
- If your baby is a boy, cover his penis with a clean cloth so he doesn't pee on you.
- Grasp your baby by the ankles and gently lift his bottom off the changing surface, then fold the dirty diaper in half under your baby, clean side up. Use a baby wipe or wet cloth to thoroughly clean your baby's front. For a girl be sure to clean her vaginal area to her bottom. This helps keep bacteria from causing an infection. Apply diaper rash cream if needed.
Then try to grasp her ankles and gently lift his bottom off the changing surface, then quickly swap the clean diaper. Fasten it and you're done. - Dispose of the dirty diaper, dress you baby, and wash your hands thoroughly.
- Newborns: Don't cover the umbilical cord with the diaper it might get irritated and infected by the pee of your baby.
- Boys: Be sure to tuck the penis down so they're less likely to pee over the top of the diaper.
