Price-cut Valentine's Date

These days, you've got to be practical. With the bad economy and all, even love has to take a price cut. Things you can do for free 1. Visit her at home. Not only will her parents have peace of mind, but you even get a free meal. Bring some DVD's that you can watch and popcorn to microwave. Or whip up something in the kitchen, even if you both don't know how to cook. Variation: Bring some cooked food from your place to her house. You need not to be a gourmet cook or you can ask your mom for help. To really get on her mom's good side, offer to drive her and her mom to the mall or super market. 2. Scan the newspapers and listen to the radio for free concerts and outdoor movies for free. Launchings of new products are also a good idea. You get not only free entertainment, but product samples to boot. The important thing is that you and your  date have a great time. Variation: Join radio and essay-writing contests in newspapers to get free invites or free dinners. ...

Best to wait for someone

It is best to wait for the one you want than settle for the one available. Best to wait for the one you love than one who is just around. Life is too short to be waste on just someone so it is best to wait for the right one.   Keep your eyes open, and do not fool yourself that you can change someone, or that what you see as faults is not that important. If you love your mate and want the relationship to grow and evolve, you have to learn how to close one eye and not let every little thing bothers you. You and your partner have many different expectations, emotional needs, values, dreams, weaknesses, and strengths. Neither one of you is perfect, but are you perfect enough for each other? You cannot make someone love you, or make someone stay. Seeking status, sex, and security are the wrong reasons to be in a relationship. A relationship keeps strong because of Communication, intimacy, a sense of humor, sharing household tasks, some getaway time without business or children, da...

Let reason take break

"Your heart says go, but your head says no..." Yet another cliche', but it does seem to hit a nerve, doesn't it? At one point or another, we have had to deal with this internal conflict whether or not in the context of romantic love. In our society, the cliche' about heart and mind going in "different directions" is, in fact, pertinent, given all the unwritten, but well understood, rules and restrictions that we've come to embrace, consciously or otherwise. Here are some of the most common "unwritten rules" that make falling in love just a little more complicated. NOT "UP TO PAR" People-watching has become a common Filipino pastime. Subconsciously, we have formed clear mental pictures of the different classes of people. Being pintaseros and pintaseras, we tend to judge by looks, surname, school, social circles, family background, or even the way others speak English. We have become so judgmental that we can look at a cer...

What is Love?

What is love? What are its attributes? Where is love? How do we find it? The truth is, love cannot be contained in mere words. It is hunger to be suffered, a gift to be shared, a pleasure to indulge in, and a miracle to believe in. love is a mystery but, we shall attempt to define it anyway. LOVE IS FREE The quality of love is never strained. It is given freely from the heart. The most sublime love is the unconditional kind, the one that is voluntarily given and expects no payment back. Love is free and has no price in it. It flows generously and can never be forced. If you can buy it, then it is not true love. But true love is rarely found. As Francois Duc de La Rouchetou could says, "True Love is like a ghost, which everyone talks about but few have seen". LOVE IS GIVING Love  is giving something of yourself. When you give to someone, you inevitably affect his destiny. A little act of kindness or even an encouraging word can perform the miracles in life of someone ...

Blind Date Rules of Engagement by Faye Bambalan

It would be nice if people would just meet and fall in love. But these days, life requires a more pro-active stance. With Valentines Day just around the corner and couples all around you, why sit around waiting for the perfect guy when you actually take action? I am talking about going on a blind date. For some people, doing the blind date circuit is the best way to get over a heartache or to simply announce that they are free and single. Others view it as a way to actually find the one. The more practical among us, also known as freeloaders, see it as a chance for a free meal. What ever your reasons, a blind date is always an experience, even if sometimes its a nightmare. Now most people would find the idea of going out with a perfect stranger daunting, or appalling. But the mechanics of the game are simple. A few rules are so obvious they could have been taught in high school values class. Not all of them are application or applicable to every situation though. I went through ye...

Things to Ponder

When you love someone, don't expect that person to love you back the same amount. One will always be ahead and the other is left behind. It's either you catch up, while the other has to wait. When the door of happiness closes another opens but often we look so long at the closed door that we don't see the one, which has opened for us. To love is to be hurt. For no one ever picked up a rose and appreciate it without the thorns. To love is not about "it's your fault!" but "I'm sorry", not "where were you?" but "I'm right here", not "How could you" but "I understand", not "I wish you were here" but "I'm thankful you are..." Faith makes all things possible. Love makes all things easy. Hope makes all things work. You can learn to love someone when you find out what makes him/her laugh. But you can never truly love someone until you find out what makes him/her cry. Sayi...

Looks could kill

These days when fashion and fade continuously evolve, one can't help noticing the very way teener dress, behave and even talk. Some personalities seem to fit some teens but there are also those who try desperately to look good. Yes, there are teens who just seem to be too conscious of themselves. It is normal for a girl to have mirror inside her bag and use it when she fixes herself. But it is inappropriate and even funny for a boy to bring one. However, it is interesting to note that boys compensate by looking at any glass window or even side mirrors of cars whenever they feel like fixing themselves. You would surely notice a friend, a classmate, or an acquaintance that just had a new haircut or a new set of clothes. These are some of the many ways that some people, especially teenagers, would get out of their way just to look good. There are teenagers who would sacrifice the usual just to look "new". From the hair down to the pair of shoes....
