Zech's First Haircut

Image
When my son turned 1, I'm so worried that we would have a problem in having his first hair cut. There are a lot of maybe's in our minds. Maybe he will cry. Maybe he will be naughty and can't finish his hair cut . We were thinking for a suitable salon where he could have his first haircut. And of course, we want it to make it fun and memorable for him. I remember reading in the magazine about a kids salon, so I immediately search for that magazine and saw the name of the salon. It's Cuts 4 tots, a kids salon designed for the aged 0-9 years old. You can check their facebook at  https://www.facebook.com/cuts4tots.hairsalon . We went to The Block, SM North Edsa and when we went inside the salon we are surprise seeing a salon with  such ambiance and nice accommodation. You can feel that your child will really love this place. They have different toys for kids waiting for their turns. Their chairs are build in cars which attracts the kids. They also have TV and DVD in f

Christmas Day

When Christmas day comes Filipino usually attended the Misa de Aguinaldo by the whole family. Misa de Aguinaldo is the Holy mass celebrated to signify the Birth of Jesus Christ the Roman Catholic Church in the Philippines' main means of celebrating Jesus Christ's birth. Misa de Aguinaldo is also celebrated at dawn or in the morning immediately after sunrise before 10 AM, this schedule is preferred by Filipinos who choose to celebrate Christmas Eve with a night-long celebration of Noche Buena . Preferably in the morning, Filipino families visit members of the extended family, notably the elders in order to pay their respect. This custom has been an age-old tradition in the Philippines called Pagmamano , this is done by touching one's forehead to the elder's hand saying Mano Po . The elder then blesses the person who paid respect. Aguinaldo or money in the form of crisp, fresh-from-the-bank bills is given after the Pagmamano , most usually to younger children. A Ch

How to change nappy?

Changing diaper gives you and your child a chance to bond. You can talk or sing to him while you are changing his diaper. You can even start teaching him by pointing his  body parts and telling him what it is. Below are some basic steps you need to know.   You need to wash and dry your hands so that the bacteria you have won't be passed on your baby. Set up your changing area. Grab your supplies such as clean diaper, wipes, diaper rash cream, etc. Unfold your clean diaper so it's ready to put on your baby Unfasten the dirty diaper, but don't remove it yet. If your baby is a boy, cover his penis with a clean cloth so he doesn't pee on you. Grasp your baby by the ankles and gently lift his bottom off the changing surface, then fold the dirty diaper in half under your baby, clean side up. Use a baby wipe or wet cloth to thoroughly clean your baby's front. For a girl be sure to clean her vaginal area to her bottom. This helps keep bacteria from causing an infect

Misa de Gallo or Simbang Gabi

Image
According to Wikepedia, Misa de Gallo is the Spanish phrase for Midnight mass, more literally translated as "Rooster's Mass". It is said that the "Rooster's Mass" owes its name to the idea that a rooster would have been among the first witness of the birth of Jesus, and thus be the one to announce it. According to Wikipilipinas, Simbang Gabi is about three centuries old, having begun sometime in the 1700s. A Spanish friar gathered his flocks of farmers during harvest time - coinciding with the Christmas season - and together they gave thanks for the bountiful harvest. Group singing was encouraged during the gathering and a simple breakfast was served afterwards. From then on these farmers willingly observed those early mornings as a time for worship, and it became a tradition over time. Misa de Gallo usually celebrates during Christmas Season. In the Philippines, we usually celebrate nine day of dawn mass that starts on December 16 and ends on December

How to be wise?

1. Don't throw tissue, cigarette butts and other garbage, because flushing wastes water. Throw these into garbage cans instead. 2. Try to park your car on a grassy area when you wash it, so that the water you used for cleaning won't go to waste. This can flow into ground and water the plants. 3.When using the oven, preheat the oven for the minimum time needed. 4. Use a pressure cooker. This will reduce your cooking time by over 50% and keeps a higher temperature longer. 5. Watch TV together especially when your family watches one program at the same time. Other family has two TV and just watching the same program. This will less your electricity and it will also bring your family together. 6. Put your windows some tinted glass to reflect some heat away from the house

Where do people spend their Christmas?

People usually go out of town with friends or family. I suggest to get the accommodation or reservation before the event.  Filipino usually go to their parents place to give thanks and to celebrate Christmas. So other people are taking this opportunity to have a family reunion. Others are just staying at home and enjoying their vacation by spending their time with their love ones at home. You can celebrate or show love to your family by doing simple things to them. As long as you are Christmas love by giving, thanking, and showing appreciation.

Learn how to avoid and cure boils or pigsa

Pigsa is a Filipino word for boils. Boils are usually painful, pus-filled bumps that form when one or more hair follicles, the tube-shaped shafts from which hair grows, become infected with staph bacteria also known as Staphylococcus aureus. According to Zsazsa Galore, Staph bacteria that cause boils generally enter through a cut, scratch or other break in your skin. As soon as this occurs, specialized white blood cells called neutrophils rush to the site to fight the infection. This leads to inflammation and eventually to the formation of pus, a mixture of old white blood cells, bacteria and dead skin cells. According to MayoClinic.com, Boils (furuncles) usually start as red, tender lumps. The lumps quickly fill with pus, growing larger and more painful until they rupture and drain. A carbuncle is a cluster of boils that form a connected area of infection under the skin. Factors can increase your risk on having Boils: Poor general health. Having chronic poor health makes it

Market made Juice versus Fresh Juice

Image
Fresh Orange Juice Juice is a good source of minerals and vitamins which help in activation of enzymes and co-enzymes. Enzymes and co-enzymes helps our body in digestion of food and absorption of important vitamins and minerals. Market Made Juice When you buy juice at a store, you are buying PASTEURIZED orange juice, which means the juice has been cooked, along with vitamins and minerals naturally occurring in the juice. So, then the company has to “fortify” the juice with vitamins and minerals. Of course, as mentioned above, your body knows the difference, and passes the “fortified” vitamins and minerals straight out of your body. According to Isabel De Los Rios, a certified nutritionist and exercise specialist, "Juice is one of those drinks that many people perceive as healthy, especially when it’s labeled natural or organic and it says it is made from all natural ingredients. Let me clear this up right now…Juice is NOT part of a healthy eating plan un

The Spirit of Christmas

My favorite holiday is Christmas, because I'm happy when I see my cousins, neighbors children, and people around me smiling when I give them my present. For me every present is also a piece of love that I'm giving them. This is my way of showing love and appreciation to them. Giving gifts is how we give value and importance of having friends and relatives. For me when buying gifts I always think of the budget I have and if it will be useful to the person that I'm giving. Let us start giving gifts for Mothers. My mom is on abroad so it's not easy to think of any gift that I can give her for Christmas. But moms are not hard to please. One thing that she appreciate in all the things I give her is giving or sending her a Christmas card saying how much I appreciate and love her. Other suggestion, if your mom loves to cook you can give her kitchen ware, if your mom loves to sew maybe you can give her a fancy cloth to sew or a sewing machine perhaps. Giving gift to your mom

Heart Attack

Every heart attack symptom is going to be the left arm hurting. Be aware of intense pain in the jaw line. Nausea and intense sweating are also common symptoms. According of Dr. Virend Somers, a cardiologist from the Mayo Clinic, "most heart attacks occur in the day, generally between 6AM and noon". The majority of people, about 60%, who had a heart attack during their sleep, did not wake up. However, if it occurs, the chest pain may wake you up from your deep sleep . According to National Heart Lung and Blood Institute, "Sleep apnea is a common disorder in which you have one or more pauses in breathing or shallow breaths while you sleep. Breathing pauses can last from a few seconds to minutes. They often occur 5 to 30 times or more an hour. Typically, normal breathing then starts again, sometimes with a loud snort or choking sound." Cold water solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed. It will slow down the digestion of food. Once this 'sludge&#

The truth about Rice

Are you a rice addict? Did you know that rice becomes sugar? Rice is chemically no different from sugar. One bowl of rice is the equal to 10 teaspoons of sugar. It does not matter whether it is white, brown or herbal rice. Brown rice is richer in fiber, some B vitamins and minerals but it is still equal to a teaspoons of sugar. To get the same 10 teaspoons of sugar, you need to consume 10 bowls of spinach. Rice cannot be digested before it is cooked and if it is cooked. It becomes sugar and spikes circulating blood sugar within half an hour-almost as quickly as it would if you took a sugar candy. Rice is very low in the "rainbow of antioxidants". I love to sit down to a colorful meal. Bright green beans, brilliant orange sweet potatoes, a salad mixed with yellow peppers, and bright red tomatoes, a colorful plate glows with good nutrition. By eating a variety of colors, you'll not only ensure that you're getting enough antioxidants, but that you're getting good va

Green tea is great for our immune system. Honey Use honey as a tranquilizer and sedative to make you sleep. Onions Eating onions helps ease constriction of bronchial tubes. It is good for people who have asthma as the help you breathe better. Cranberry Juice Drink cranberry juice if you have bladder infection. The high-acid of cranberry juice controls the harmful bacteria. Pineapple Bone fractures and osteoporosis can be prevented by the manganese in pineapple. How would you define success?

Success is the achievement of something you desired, planned, or attempted. A state where one achieves when you had reached your personal goals. Success is not only being rich but also having prosperity and abundance. According to Bill Gothard, "success is not measured by what you are compared to others. Success is measured by what you are compared to what you could be." Remember don't compare yourself to other people because we have different perspective in life. And don't be scared to show your talents, because those talents will help you achieve your goals and make you a successful person.

Christmas Belen and Parol

Belen is a Christmas symbol by Filipino. It is composed of  baby Jesus Christ surrounded by Mama Mary, St. Joseph, the shepherds, their flock, the Magi or also known as the three wisemen, and some stable animals and angels. Belens are usually seen at churches for the preparation of Christmas. Philippines won first place as best Belen in the Tarlac province for two consecutive years, 2007 and 2008. The earliest parols were traditionally made from simple materials like bamboo sticks, Japanese rice paper, known as " papel de Hapon ", or crepe paper, and a candle or coconut oil-lamp for illumination; although the present day parol can take many different shapes and form

Basic manner to teach your child

Image
1. Showing respect to older people. In Philippines we respect older people by doing "mano po", saying "po" and "opo". Mano po Children usually take the right hand of the elder with their right hand and bringing it to their forehead. It is a way to give respect to elders especially when we greet or say goodbye to them. 2. Let them wait for their turn and never interrupt other people when they are talking 3. Say, "Please", "Thank you", "Excuse Me", "I'm Sorry" and "You're welcome" often. 4. Let them clean or fix their toys after play time. 5. Take compliments graciously if somebody praises your children.

Qualities parents must have

Showing Love Parent should know how to show their love to their child. Because sometimes showing love to them doesn't seem to be love for them. It is important to show your love the way that your child can understand. Managing Stress Stress usually make us sharp-tongued, impatient, hard headed, and unsympathetic to the needs of our child. Parents must know how to manage their own mental health, because it will have a positive influence on how their children cope with difficult situations Relationship Skills Parents must know how to handle their family. They must know how to communicate with their children especially when they need so much attention. Teaching skills Parents must know how to teach their child about "respect" and how to appreciate all things in life.Qua
A strong person knows how to keep their life in order. Even with tears in    their eyes, they still manage to say "I'm ok" with a smile.

Importance of Time

There are seven days a week And in a week I always see you five times. There are twenty four hours a day, And I’m with you almost 6 hours. In 6 hours, I can only glance or look at you for a few minutes. Talk to you for second. And smile at you for a milliseconds.
I really can't understand you anymore. As if you really don't care. I just wish I'll die, so you'll realize that you need me. The worth of being with me, the worth of having me in your life, the worth of me loving you. Sometimes before I go to sleep, I was wondering why do I need to sacrifice like this with you I still can escape. I still can change my life. but why do I need to be with you? Why do I need to be so helpless? Maybe I'm still making the same mistake I have done before. I can't love myself while loving you so much. I'm always thinking of what's best for you. Thinking of what you need and what can pleased you. But how about me? I just want your care and love. Is that hard to give? Someday when I'm gone I hope you'll realize how much you've lost because no one can give the love like I do.

Do whatever you desire

If you feel you been betrayed, If you feel that someone don't trust you If you feel that the whole world are against you Do what ever you desire. If you want to cry, then cry If you want to shout, then shout If you want to die, don't Because in every failure, hardship and heartaches there will be an exchange of happiness just wait it will come to you in the right time and place.
